The United States House of Representatives voted Wednesday to support legislation that could result in a nationwide ban on TikTok, one of the world’s most popular social media apps. It is unclear what will happen to the bill in the Senate.

The United States has been moving to ban TikTok in the country, citing national security concerns.

What TikTok is saying?
TikTok, which has 170 million users in the United States, has maintained that it is unclear whether China will allow any transaction and that it may be divested in six months.
“This legislation has a predetermined outcome: a total ban of TikTok in the United States,” the firm stated following the committee vote. “The government is aiming to revoke 170 million Americans’ constitutional right to free expression. This will harm millions of businesses, deny artists an audience, and decimate the livelihoods of countless creative across the country.”
