“One Day” Season 1 Episode 4 Recap & Cast

We immediately jump ahead to 1991 with episode 4, implying that it has been over three years since Emma and Dex first met in Edinburgh. They’ve escaped London’s bustle to take in Greece’s tranquil beaches.

One Day Season 1 Episode 4 Recap

Emma has made the decision to maintain a platonic relationship with Dex. This prohibits having intercourse, kissing, and sleeping in the same bed.

Regretfully, since the motel they reserved didn’t have extra beds, they were forced to violate their third rule. They both acknowledge that there is evident romantic and sexual tension between them, nevertheless.

We watch them both thinking back to their first evening in Edinburgh. Emma lies lightly when Dex tries to bring up the same topic, saying she can’t recall every detail.

They divulge their darkest secrets over supper. Dex talks about kissing a guy in a party, and Emma admits that she had a serious crush on Dex even before their official meeting in Edinburgh. Emma even wrote two poems about him. But Adam already knows this since Emma’s roommate Tilly told him. When Dex asks Emma if she still thinks the same way about him, Emma lies and says she doesn’t.

As the episode goes on, we witness Dex going into the water to skinny dip after taking off all of his clothes. Emma is asked to accompany Dex, and although she initially appears apprehensive, she quickly follows him. Dex admits to having a thing on Emma in the water, but he’s not ready for a relationship. Dax is cool with Emma having fun without any obligations, though. Emma becomes agitated by this and exits the water, bringing the episode to a close.
