A Georgia man was arrested and charged Saturday after allegedly confessing to strangling his girlfriend to death inside her Maryland home.
Carl Kearney Jr., 43, was charged with first- and second-degree murder in the killing of 38-year-old Patricia Best, according to a press release.

Kearney went to a Clinton police station at 9:20 a.m. Saturday and told detectives that he strangled Best after an argument at her house on the 800 block of St. James Court in Accokeek, according to police.
Officers discovered her unconscious at her home, and she was confirmed dead following an examination. According to officials, Kearney is currently in the custody of the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections. In light of this development, the police have requested the public’s aid.
