New Zealanders, including leaders from all political parties, have expressed shock and grief at the tragic death of Green MP Efeso Collins, who fell on a charity run in Auckland on Wednesday.
“It is with profound shock and sadness that we can confirm that Green Party MP Efeso Collins has died,” read a Green Party statement.
What is the Cause of the Death of Efeso Collins?
Green MP Efeso Collins, 49, died this morning after fainting during a charity event. Emergency personnel rushed to treat the first-term MP when he collapsed during a ChildFund charity event in Auckland’s Britomart. Witnesses witnessed dramatic scenes as Collins received medical treatment. An organizer verified Collins’ death, citing his commitment to community service. His death was caused by collapsing while participating in the event.
“He appeared to be in a good mood, and everything happened quickly.” This is heartbreaking, but I believe he died while working for a good cause.
Collins was allegedly in good spirits and laughing immediately before collapsing. Police issued a statement confirming the deceased.
“Police assisted Hato Hone St John staff after a man suffered a medical event at Te Komititanga, off lower Queen Street,” a representative for the police said. “Sadly, despite medical intervention, we can confirm that the man died at the site.
“Our thoughts are with those affected by the incident this morning.”
