Selina Robinson Career

In September 2012, Robinson shared her plans to run for the BC NDP nomination for Coquitlam—Maillardville in the upcoming provincial election. In November of that year, she became the NDP candidate for the riding without opposition.

During the 2017 provincial election, Robinson competed again against Steve Kim and won by over 2400 votes. She was then selected as Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing in the new BC NDP government led by Premier John Horgan.

After winning re-election in 2020, she became the Finance Minister. When Premier Horgan announced his retirement as party leader in 2022, Robinson considered replacing him but decided against it. On December 7, 2022, Premier David Aby appointed him as Minister of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.

On February 1, 2024, the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators of BC (FPSE) and the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) jointly called on Premier David Aby to call for Robinson’s immediate resignation.
