On July 3, 2018, Michael Porter signed a multi-year contract with the Nuggets. However, on July 19, 2018, the Nuggets announced that Porter would undergo back surgery for the second time, so he could miss the entire season.
Porter made his NBA debut on October 31, 2019. He came off the bench and scored fifteen points, grabbed four rebounds, and an assist in a game against the New Orleans Pelicans, even though the Nuggets lost 107–122.
On September 27, 2021, Michael Porter and the Denver Nuggets agreed to a 5-year contract extension worth $172 million.
