While at Allen & Unwin, he published Mark Davis’s “Gangland: Cultural Elites and the New Generationalism”.

In 2004, he wrote his first novel, “Geography”. Her experiences as an AsiaLink resident in Sri Lanka in 2005 inspired her second novel, “Bird”, which traces her journey as a singer-actress turned Buddhist nun.

In 2008, Cunningham took up the role of editor at Meanjin, with a vision of making the literary magazine “lighter, more fun, but I don’t mean lighter”. Additionally, they aimed to attract a younger audience to the magazine.
