Ryan Pemberton worked as a crew chief in over 600 Cup and Xfinity races, dedicating a decade to JR Motorsports.

NASCAR Garage’s Ryan Pemberton worked as competition director in the JR Motorsports Xfinity Series program before he died.

Ryan Pemberton died on Sunday 14 January 2024 at the age of 54. Ryan Pemberton’s family has not yet disclosed the cause of his death.

Upon the death of Ryan Pemberton, JR Motorsports CEO Kelly Earnhardt issued a statement-

“Ryan Pemberton was instrumental to JR Motorsports’ success during the decade he spent with us.” “He had such a passion for competition and, as a leader, knew how to motivate everyone he worked with. He will always be part of the JRM family. Our hearts go out to his wife Andrea and daughters Payton and Britton during this tremendously difficult time.”

When Ryan Pemberton worked with JR Motorsports, Ryan won 3 driver championships with his organization:- 1st in 2014 with Chase Elliott and 2nd regular year with Tyler Reddick in 2018-19.

Ryan Pemberton was also known as the younger brother of former NASCAR competition vice president Robin Pemberton.

Ryan Pemberton started in NASCAR in 1988 with Jack Roush. Robin Pemberton was Mark Martin’s crew chief at the time.

Ryan Pemberton won 561 NASCAR Cup Series races as a crew chief in 2004 with Joe Nemechek and in 2009 with Brian Vickers.

In 2007, Ryan Martin lost a photo finish to Kevin Harvick in the Daytona 500. Ryan was also Martin’s crew chief at that time.

Ryan Pemberton worked with Ernie Irvan, Derrike Cope, Jerry Nadeau, and Dave Blaney.
