The renowned musical creator of “Woza Albert!” Mbongeni Ngema of South Africa died at the age of  68. He died in a car crash. He was a passenger in the car that crashed.

According to the Associated Press, the Family of Mbongeni Ngema has announced this death news in a statement.

Mbongeni Ngema’s family released a statement on Wednesday. Stating that Ngema died in a head-on collision. He is on her way home from a funeral in a small hamlet in the Eastern Cape province. The renowned dramatist was riding along in the car.

Mbongeni Ngema was an artist with many talents. He is best known for his work as a writer, lyricist, and composer. Ngema is a director, choreographer, and theater producer as well. He was born in Verulam—a place near KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, on May 10, 1955. Ngema was a supporting guitarist for plays. After that, he became well-known for his critically acclaimed compositions like “Sarafina!.” He was born close to Durban. So, he was instrumental in using his plays to capture the essence of black South Africans during the apartheid era.
