Vikings OC Wes Phillips Arrested for DUI

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.– Vikings offensive coordinator Wes Phillips was arrested Friday night for driving under the influence (DUI).He was stopped by the Minnesota State Patrol around 10 p.m.A breathalyzer test showed he was above Minnesota’s legal limit of 0.08.

Mr Phillips was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on December 21st.The Vikings released a statement saying they are aware of the situation and are gathering further information.

“We are aware of the circumstances surrounding Wes Phillips and are currently gathering further information.We have no further comment at this time,” the statement said.

Phillips is in his second season as the Vikings’ offensive coordinator.He is the son of former NFL head coach Wade Phillips and grandson of former NFL head coach Bum Phillips.

This is not the first time a member of the Vikings organization has been arrested for drunk driving.In 2014, running back Adrian Peterson was arrested on charges of reckless driving and child endangerment.He was subsequently suspended for the entire season.

It’s unclear how this arrest will affect Phillips’ future with the Vikings.head coach Kevin O’Connell said a decision on Phillips’ status will be made once more information is available.
