A Black Pastor who formerly condemned police abuse has organised a big nationwide pro-police gathering, claiming that his perspective on the topic has shifted.
National Faith & Blue Weekend: Black Pastor Organizes Nationwide Pro-Police Event for Community Relations
National Faith & Blue Weekend is organised by Reverend Markel Hutchins, pastor of New Era Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado. On October 14-15, 2023, nearly 100 communities across the United States will host a two-day event.
The event is intended to foster relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. In addition, mutual respect and understanding should be promoted.
Hutchins stated that he was inspired to organise the event after witnessing the negative consequences. That current anti-police rhetoric has had on both communities.
“We’ve allowed a vocal minority to dominate the conversation, resulting in the demonization of law enforcement.” And a breakdown in confidence between police and the communities they serve,” Hutchins told Fox News Digital in an interview. “This is not good for anyone.”
National Faith & Blue Weekend: Bridging the Gap Between Communities and Police for a Safer Society
Hutchins stated that he has realised that the vast majority of police officers are good people doing a difficult job. He also stated that he feels the police are critical to public safety.
“We need the police,” Hutchins declared. “But we also need to make sure that they are accountable and that they are working with the communities they serve.”
Hutchins expressed optimism that National Faith & Blue Weekend will assist to begin the healing process. Between police and the communities they serve.
“We need to come together and build bridges,” stated Hutchins. “We must show our support for the police while also holding them accountable.” That is the only way we can progress and establish a more secure and just society.”
I wish National Faith & Blue Weekend success. It is a significant event that has the potential to make our communities safer and more just.
