Who is Paula Mee?
She also authored a popular column for The Irish Times for many years. She graduated from NUI Galway with a BSc in biochemistry in 1983, then acquired a postgraduate qualification in dietetics before qualifying as a dietitian with a master’s in health science from Leeds Metropolitan University. She served as the nutrition manager for Superquinn and as a senior nutritionist with the National Dairy Council before starting her consultancy in 2004. She also worked as a clinical dietician in Northern Ireland hospitals. She was a long-time member and previous president of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute, Ireland’s professional organization for dietitians.

Paula Mee, a notable dietician, and food specialist in Ireland for the previous two decades died before Christmas. Ms. Mee died in Our Lady’s Hospice at Harold’s Cross, and her funeral was held on Christmas Eve in Booterstown, Co Dublin. Her husband, son, stepdaughters Olivia and Phoebe, and stepson, Charlie, survive her. Ms. Mee was a respected author and a frequent and well-regarded contributor on Irish radio, television, and print media for over 20 years.

Ms Egan’s death was seen as “a shock and a tragedy” by the local community.
