Joseph Marley’s Paternal History

Jo Mersa Marley was the grandson of legendary reggae singer Bob Marley, who significantly contributed to Reggae music’s vulgarisation. Bobby, in his most successful career, delivered some unforgettable hits, including ” Everything Gonna Be Alright”, “Is This Love”, “I Shot the Sheriff”, “Get Up, Stand Up”, and “No Woman, No Cry”. In 1961 Bobby, at 36, died due to cancer. The singer leaves behind his eleven children, four from his wife and seven from other women. Stephen Marley, the father of Joseph Marley, is one of them. Stephen, also following his father’s footsteps, made a name in the reggae music industry, and has eleven children.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Joseph opened up about his upbringing and said: “It was a very magical thing, seeing those people come around to the house and how the whole work process would happen.

“I would come home and try to do homework, but I’d get distracted and go peek in the studio.
