During the battle, Ms Lovell sustained critical injuries. Despite paramedics’ gallant efforts to resuscitate Mrs Lovell through a Thoracotomy operation, she suffered chest wounds and died on the scene. Her life was taken just hours after she returned from a trip to the Sunshine Coast, where she had spent Christmas Day with her family at the beach. Lee, her husband, was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical but stable condition after suffering non-life-threatening back injuries. Residents were taken aback when they heard Mrs Lovell’s daughters shouting in despair, “Someone assists my mum, help my mum,” while one neighbour came to her aid. According to accounts, the mother of two daughters recently visited the Sunshine Coast with her family before returning to her home in northern Brisbane.
