BBC Radio Cumbria Presenter Simon Yaxley on Wednesday 21, 2022, was found dead at his home in Carlisle. The cause of death is yet unknown. A spokesperson from BBC confirms his death news on Twitter wrote:
“Our thoughts and condolences are with Simon’s family and friends. We understand this will be a very difficult time for them, so we won’t be commenting any further at this time.”

Mr Yaxley for the last five years had been a presenter and producer for the BBC as well as worked for commercial radio in the country. Simon was known for his distinctive voice. Apart from being a radio presenter, Mr Yaxley was also known for his performances at theatres in Cumbria and Lancashire. According to Jonathan Morrell, the executive producer of BBC Radio Cumbria Simon was a “real showman” with a ” great rapport with the audience”.

As soon as the news of his demise came out his listeners, former colleagues and people who know him are paying tribute to him on different social media platforms.
Mr Yaxley’s companion John Pye paid tribute to him on BBC Radio Cumbria’s Mike Zeller at Breakfast: “As a shining light his character shone through,” he said.
“He loved his interviews, he loved chatting to other people, and whatever he did in the world of radio he wanted it right.”
Andy Milliard a co-presenter with Simon at Lakeland Radio said: “He was just radio through and through, it was his real passion. He was sad when Lakeland Radio finished in this area and he was so chuffed when he got his shot on Radio Cumbria.
“He was such a happy-go-lucky guy he had so much passion for local people.”
Steve Ferguson tweeted- “Really sad news this morning, the world has lost a top bloke 😞 RIP @RadioYakkers (Simon Yaxley)
No doubt about it Simon was one of the best presenters at Lakeland Radio and latterly at @BBC_Cumbria. A very bubbly, friendly bloke and a fantastic actor too.
