Des Moines Police detected the name of a woman and her daughter found dead at a shooting on Monday morning at their home in the Merle Hay neighbourhood. The victims were identified as Danielle Remily, 47 and her 20-year-old daughter, Emma Parker. Both the victims lived together at the home in the 2600 block of 53rd St. where the shooting happened before 3 a.m. according to the Police department.
Who is the Suspect in the Murder?
Cops told that the shooter had called emergency dispatchers soon after they received reports of the shooting and admitted that he was responsible for the shooting and was walking to a park where he intended to suicide. Dispatchers received multiple calls reporting the shooting.
Police spokesperson Sgt. Paul Pariek said that investigators believe the gunman was the daughter’s estranged boyfriend. However, the identity of the shooter was not known but the suspect is said to be 22 years old. Both mother and daughter were found dead on the spot and the sniper was found wounded. He was taken to a hospital but his condition was critical. The victims were the 19th and 20th people who died by homicide in Des Moines this year.
Reason Behind the Murder
Police are thus investigating the motive behind his shooting. For now, no information has been revealed by the cops as to why he murdered the mother and daughter and afterwards intended to take away his own life.
