Popular Edinburg chef, Paul Kitching had a sudden demise. The Michelin star chef at the age of 61 said a final goodbye to life and shocked everyone. His wife Katie O’Brien announced the death news on the Instagram page of Kiching’s 21212 Edinburg, the restaurant Paul owns in the Scottish capital.
Katie posted a picture of the chef and alongside wrote a message-“My love has gone. But what a love x,”.
Katie in a message sent to the customers of the restaurant wrote-“Dear friends, It is with [a] heavy heart that I write to let you know that I’ve lost my love, Paul, who sadly passed away yesterday.
“The death has come as a total shock to us at 21212 and we are trying to come to terms with the passing of a legend within our industry.
“Paul was an inspirational figure to everyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting him or working with him and we are all devastated.”
Tributes Paid to Michelin Star Chef
Since the news of his demise came out the internet is flooded with people paying tribute to the soul. Social media is filled with rest-in-peace messages.
The Michelin Guide, which awards Michelin stars on Twitter wrote-” Paul Kitching was kind, clever, hugely talented, and infectiously enthusiastic.
“He was also a true maverick and his passion and creativity were evident in every dish he created. Our heartfelt sympathies go to Katie and all his family.”
Simon Rogan, owner of L’Enclume paid tribute on Twitter-
“Incredibly sad to hear of the passing of Paul Kitching – a great man and massive talent.
“There was no one like him. I’ll never forget the nuttiest but most memorable meals. A true inspiration to me. My thoughts are with Katie and the team at @21212 Edinburg”
Chef Gary Usher, the owner of Elite Bistros restaurants group across the northwest wrote on Twitter-
“This is awful news I’m so, so sorry. He was so kind to me when I needed an arm around me more than ever.
“He was one in a million and a genius too.”
John Benson-Smith, the former BBC Master Chef Judge and Northern Chef of the year on Twitter wrote-
“Paul Kitching RIP I’m devastated – my wishes thoughts love to his family and 21212.”
Death Cause of the Chef
The reason for his death is not been disclosed yet. There are no further updates as to what happened that led to the sudden demise of the chef. Katie O’Brien further made no statement about the cause of his death. We will update you soon as soon as we get sufficient details about the cause of his death.
Who was Talented Michelin Star Chef Paul Kitching?
Paul Kitching is originally from Gateshead, in the northeast of England. The star chef began his career as an apprentice baker, which he revealed in an interview in 2016. He then later moved to New York where he learned French cooking and Nouvelle Cuisine. Paul with his partner began to run the Juniper in Great Manchester which became the North West’s only 4AA rosette restaurant and Great Manchester’s only Michelin-starred restaurant.
The couple later moved to Scotland and launch 21212 the various award-winning five-star restaurant with rooms, in 2009. The restaurant received various accolades since its opening including the best new restaurant in the UK and a Michigan star between 2009 to 2019. Paul Kitching was also honored with the Prince Philip medal for services to the catering industry.
