A future episode of NCIS: Hawai’i will pay respect to Yakira Chambers, the CBS drama’s story editor who died tragically last week at 42.
Personal Life of Yakira Chambers:
According to information supplied by her family, Chambers was born in Chicago, where she attended Lindblom Math and Science Academy High School. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in science with an emphasis in information management systems from Southern Illinois University. She graduated from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville but was driven to a job in the entertainment sector.
She went to live in Los Angeles. Alums of the prestigious Midsummer in Oxford Programme of the British American Drama Academy include Tracie Thoms, Ruth Negga, the late Chadwick Boseman and Paul Giamatti.

Cause of Death for Yakira Chambers:
Yakira died from asphyxia due to respiratory problems. Chambers wrote four episodes during his first season as a staff writer on the NCIS spinoff before being elevated to story editor for Season 2. A mentee in the fiercely competitive ViacomCBS Writers Mentoring Program in 2020–2021, she was given the staff writing position.
A January show episode will pay tribute to her following a three-hour NCIS universe for January 2. Chambers has been in many HBO shows, including John Henry (with Terry Crews) and The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl (with Issa Rae), and co-wrote the comedy series M.O. Diaries, in which she portrayed Michelle Obama.
