The French racing driver Patrick Tambay was a driver, commentator and politician who died at the age of 73. Patrick’s fans are shocked to hear about the sudden demise of their favourite star. Ferrari’s Statement reads-“We are all truly saddened by the news of the passing of Patrick Tambay,” read a Ferrari statement.”He was one of the true stars of the 80s, winning two races with the Scuderia and contributing to winning the manufacturers’ titles in 1982 and 1983.”

Esteban Ocon, Alpine’s French driver statement reads-“An icon of French motorsport has left us. My thoughts go out to his family, friends and loved ones.”

French Sports journalist Alexander Delperier said- “You are gone, my dear friend. So many memories. What a passion for F1 shared on (television channel) RMC Sport. I mourn the marvellous man that you were.”

Patrick Tambay born on June 25, 1949, is a French driver best known as a Ferrari hero who made his debut in 1977 when he competed in just one Grand Prix, The French Grand Prix, for the Surtees team. Tambay in his entire career started in 114 Grand Prix races and collected 103 points. In his career span stretching from 1977 to 1986, Patrick won two Grand Prix. Tambay also worked as a commentator on French Television after retiring from his racing career. He then became a politician and served as a deputy mayor of Le Canne, a suburb near Cannes.
