After winning the Can-Am championship with Haas, Patrick made his Formula with Surtees. He only drove in one practice at the 1977 French Grand Prix before joining Theodore for the rest of the season.

Who is Patrick Tambay?

Tambay, a native of Paris, finished fourth in the world championship and retired with five positions to his name. After competing in Formula Renault and F2, the Parisian junior ski champion joined the Theodore Racing squad in Formula One in 1977. He made 114 starts for prestigious teams throughout nine seasons, including McLaren, Ferrari, and Renault. He has two victories, 11 podiums, and five pole positions. Tambay, the godfather of driver Jacques, also raced in the CanAm Championship in the early 1980s and four times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He also took part in multiple Paris-Dakar events at the end of the 1980s.
