A former model has pleaded guilty to murder in the beating death of a 71-year-old psychiatrist who authorities say was helping her pay her bills. According to Clark County District Court documents, Kelsey Turner was arrested and conspiracy to murder in the April 2019 death of Thomas Burchard of Salinas. According to court records, Turner filed an Alford plea on Wednesday. Turner maintains her innocence but pled guilty to second-degree murder under a bargain made between the case’s attorneys.

According to Las Vegas police, Burchard drove from California to Las Vegas, where Turner was living at the time, during which he allegedly granted her an allowance that included paying her rent, according to The Californian, part of the USA TODAY Network. According to the publication, Burchard was later discovered dead in the trunk of an abandoned Benz. According to authorities, Burchard died of trauma to the head when his automobile was found on a desert road near Lake Mead after his long-term girlfriend reported him missing. According to the warrant, Burchard’s girlfriend, Judy Earp, thought Turner was involved. Earp told The Californian that her boyfriend had given her at least $300,000 over the previous two years.
