SSI Payments

In a published article of The US Sun,  an estimated around five million Americans were able to receive last month’s SSI checks. The program is dedicated to seniors, disabled adults, and children to assist financially. Usually, the checks are sent out every 1st week of the month, and those who receive both social security and SSI receive their payment on the third. Worth $687 benefits are available to disabled kids in low-income households so parents can cover their medical costs.

Certain states may send extra benefits meaning some households might get more to support their disabled children. This depends on state law, however. CaliforniaHawaii, and Vermont are among the states that have the Social Security Administration send the benefits the state provides. This implies that beneficiaries are likely to get both state and federal payments as a single payment. Claimants got a double SSI check in December, reflecting the new cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) due to the holiday schedule.

The next payment is set to arrive on February 1, the monthly maximum SSI benefit is $841 per month for an individual this year, compared to $794 in 2021, according to the SSA. Furthermore, Americans that receive SSI may not get the same amount. Recipients who have resources valued at less than $2,000, will be eligible for the benefit.

Cash, bank accounts, stocks, cars, and life insurance are all included or examples of resources. Food stamps and fuel assistance do not count towards Americans’ SSI income and monthly payments will not be lowered if anyone is receiving those benefits.

Applications can be made online but those over 65 must call the number (800) 772-1213 if they want to set an appointment to file their application. Americans with hearing problems and believe they are eligible for SSI, simply call the SSA (800) 325-0778. Moreover,  when applications are submitted, officials will carefully review every document to see if claimants are eligible for SSI benefits, and the decision will be mailed.
