Here’s What You Need to Know in Filing Your Tax for the Refunds in 2022
In claiming your stimulus payment via the 2021 tax return, you’ll have to wait a bit longer. The IRS has not yet opened its e-filing portal, but you can expect it to become available starting Monday, January 24, 2022, as well as the $1,400 of the stimulus payment.
The average tax refund in 2021 would be at $2,827, a 13.24 percent increase from the previous year. However, there have been changes to charitable contribution deduction. This means there is a chance you will get the same tax refund that you got in 2021.
According to IRS, the tax refund should be issued in less than three weeks, and sooner if you choose direct deposit, in filing tax returns electronically.
Moreover, if you file a paper return, you should expect to wait between six to eight weeks for a refund to be issued. In filing during a tax season, you might expect to wait for long. So if you need your refund as soon as possible, then file earlier.
