The Build Back Better Plan

According to Local 12, stimulus payments will cease in 2021 as a result of Senator Joe Manchin’s refusal to support President Biden’s nearly $2 trillion Build Back Better plan. Because Congress has already adjourned for the year and the IRS needed a bill passed within a few days, no child tax credits will be available in January.

Families received their final child tax credit payments for the year 2021 on December 15. Joe Manchin, a Democratic senator from West Virginia, has announced that he will not vote for President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better Act, which would have extended child tax credit payments to millions of families beginning in July.

Possible February Stimulus Checks

In the past, those who chose to opt-out of the child tax credit program received a catch-up check in December to make up for the missed payments. Some families continue to do so, especially if they have a new dependent. Officials close to President Joe Biden have stated that the administration has not given up on the Build Back Better plan. Organize it into smaller sections and hold votes on each of them as a possible method of passing it, according to BGR.

According to Business Insider, White House spokesman Jen Psaki stated that the administration is working to pass a bill that funds these checks in some form by the end of the month as soon as possible. Families may also receive a significantly larger payment in February to make up for the amount they missed in January, according to the Biden administration.
