Retirement and survivor’s benefits, as well as those who have lost a spouse or an eligible ex-spouse, and benefits for the disabled are all covered by the Social Security system, which in the United States is officially known as OASDI, according to Investopedia. As inflation continues to rise, the Senior Citizens League is urging Congress to provide Social Security recipients with a $1,400 fourth stimulus check.

Prices are increasing at an alarming rate for those on a fixed income like Social Security, according to AS. The Bureau of Labor Statistics has shown that the prices have risen by 6.2 percent since October 2020. Since last year, the cost of food has gone up by 5.3 percent and energy costs have increased by more than 30 percent.
In a letter to Congress, the Senior Citizen League requested that Social Security recipients receive a stimulus check. Some of those affected by the current situation could be helped by a targeted stimulus for those on the program. As of September, the campaign had already begun, and a petition had been compiled by the campaign’s backers. The senior citizens’ advocates requested that a fourth stimulus payment of $1,400 be approved for an estimated 69 million Social Security recipients, according to Newsweek.

Request Stimulus Check Have Received No Support Or Opposition From Leaders On Capitol
The Build Back Better Act was passed by the House of Representatives on Friday, November 19. Even though it does not include a Social Security stimulus check, it does include a number of other benefits for the elderly. Medicare’s hearing aid coverage will be expanded, as will the government’s ability to negotiate a limited number of drug prices with pharmaceutical companies each year.
According to AS, more than a million people have signed a petition to support the bill, but no national polls have been conducted to see what the public thinks about it. Seniors’ targeted stimulus checks have so far received no support or opposition from leaders on Capitol Hill.
