$1,400 Stimulus Check Update: How to Know If You Are Eligible For 2022 Payments

For many Americans, stimulus payments have come and gone. Some families are still receiving child tax credit payments regularly. However, the distribution of stimulus checks to average Americans has lagged.

Still, there is a chance that newborns will get stimulus checks in 2022. According to Business Insider, infants born in 2021 may be eligible for more Biden funds.

How to Get Stimulus Payments Next Year

The third batch of stimulus checks, sent in March 2021, would entitle Americans to payouts of up to $1,400. The minimum income limits remain at $150,000 for married couples and $75,000 for singles.

According to a Moneywise report (via Yahoo! Finance), eligible new parents must notify the IRS that they had a baby (or babies) while filing their 2021 taxes in 2022 to get the stimulus cheques for those newborns.

These parents may also be eligible for the increased child tax credit, enabling families to receive regular wages. The payout would stay the same: $3,600 for children under six and $3,000 for children from six to seventeen.

When to Expect 2022 Payments

According to a Nasdaq.com report, parents should not expect to get the new stimulus check until 2022 if they submit their 2021 tax returns. The same report underscored that filing a tax return next year to collect the additional money would be important. Even parents who do not ordinarily have to submit a tax return will need to do so if they do not want to lose the $1,400 check.

Of course, Local12 reported that Americans will get two-child tax credit payments on November 15 and December 15. The payments are now set to stop at the end of 2021. Democrats are reportedly attempting to keep the increased child tax credit payments coming at least until next year, if not permanently.

This would ensure that some of America’s poorest households would still be able to get the funds. There is no indication yet on whether the income ceiling will be raised. All of this is part of President Joe Biden’s comprehensive domestic policy plan.
